2. Guiding principles

guillaumelimare.com is designed around data minimisation. We collect only what is strictly necessary for the service to work. Audience measurement is handled by Umami, a privacy-respecting tool: no cookies, no stored IP address and no advertising tracking. No third-party cookies and no advertising are used on this site.

3. Data we collect

We collect and process the following personal data:

3.1 Email address (book download)

When you download the book, your email address is recorded to give you access to the PDF file and to inform you of the book's release and when new chapters are published. This address is stored in our database along with the download date.

3.2 Contact form

When you use the contact form, your email address, name and message are sent by email to the team. This data is not stored in a database.

3.3 Digital dependency diagnostic

Questionnaire answers are processed locally in your browser (localStorage): computing your score and displaying your results requires nothing to be sent to our servers. If you choose to enter your email address on the results page to unlock the full analysis, the following data is then transmitted and stored in our database: your email address, your overall score, your usage profile (detected services) and your language. It is used to send you the analysis and related advice. As long as you do not enter your email, no diagnostic data leaves your device.

3.4 Audience measurement (Umami)

We use Umami to measure site traffic in an aggregated, anonymous way (page views, general referrer). Umami sets no cookies, does not retain your IP address and enables no cross-site tracking. No personally identifiable data is collected for this purpose.

3.5 Language preference

Your language choice (French/English) is stored in your browser's localStorage. No cookie is used for this purpose.

3.6 Newsletter (The Spark)

When you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address and language are transmitted to our emailing provider Brevo in order to send you the issues. If you provided your address to receive the first chapter or your diagnostic results, you also receive the newsletter on the basis of our legitimate interest (similar services); you can object at any time. In any case, you can unsubscribe via the link included in every email or directly on the Manage my emails page.

4. Data we do NOT collect

To protect your privacy, we do not collect any of the following:

  • No retained IP address
  • No tracking cookies or third-party cookies
  • No invasive analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no Matomo) — the Umami audience measurement is anonymous and cookieless
  • No advertising profiling or conversion pixels
  • No user account system (no password, no profile)

5. Purposes of processing

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Generate a secure, temporary download link for the book
  • Inform you about the book's release and new chapters (if you have downloaded the first chapter)
  • Send you the detailed diagnostic analysis (if you entered your email on the results page)
  • Send you the newsletter (if you subscribed)
  • Respond to your requests through the contact form
  • Measure site traffic anonymously and in aggregate

6. Legal basis

  • Consent (GDPR art. 6.1.a): by entering your email to download the book, you consent to receiving emails about the book's release and new chapters
  • Legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6.1.f): processing the contact form to answer your requests, and anonymous audience measurement to improve the site

7. Retention period

  • Email addresses (download, diagnostic, newsletter): kept while the service is active, or until you unsubscribe / request deletion
  • Contact messages: kept in the controller's mailbox, with no separate database storage
  • Local data (diagnostic, language): stored in your browser, deleted by you at any time

8. Processors and recipients

Data is processed by the following providers:

  • Hosting and database: Supabase (servers in the EU)
  • Email delivery (transactional and newsletter): Brevo (servers in the EU)
  • Audience measurement: Umami (anonymous, cookieless statistics)

No personal data is sold, shared or transmitted for commercial or advertising purposes.

9. Data security

We put the following measures in place:

  • Encrypted communications (HTTPS)
  • Data access restricted by database-level security policies (Row Level Security)
  • Temporary, signed download links (expiring after a few minutes)
  • No profiling, no collection of personal browsing data

10. Cookies and local storage

guillaumelimare.com uses no cookies, including for audience measurement (Umami works without cookies). Your browser's localStorage is used only for: your language preference, your diagnostic results, and — if you entered it — your email address, kept locally to pre-fill forms. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers through this mechanism.

11. Your rights

In accordance with the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your data
  • Right to rectification
  • Right to erasure (removal of your email from our database)
  • Right to object to processing
